Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Property Edge Tradings Limited ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use the Property Edge mobile app ("the App"). This policy is written in plain English. If anything is unclear, please contact us using the details in section 12.
1. Who we are
Property Edge Tradings Limited (trading as Property Edge) is a company registered in England and Wales.
For the purposes of UK GDPR, we are the data controller for the personal data we collect through the App.

2. What data we collect
We collect only the data we need to provide the App's service. Specifically:
Account data
- Your name, email address, and (optionally) phone number when you create an account or send an enquiry
- If you sign in with Apple, you may choose to share your real email or use Apple's private relay address — we accept either
Service data
- The UK postcode of any property you scan (used to apply correct regional pricing)
- Dimensions captured by your iPhone's LiDAR sensor (width, height, area)
- The estimates you save in the App, along with any notes or descriptions you add
- Photos you choose to attach to an enquiry — these are stored privately under your own account and only accessible to you and Property Edge staff if you submit the enquiry
Payment data
- We do not see or store your card details. All in-app purchases (Premium subscription) are handled by Apple via the iOS App Store. We only receive a confirmation that payment succeeded.
Technical data
- Your device type, operating system version, and App version (sent with API requests so we can debug issues)
What we deliberately do NOT collect
- We do not collect your full address — only a postcode
- We do not collect precise GPS coordinates
- We do not store voice recordings — when you use voice input, the words are transcribed locally on your device by iOS, the text is processed, and the audio is discarded
- We do not collect date of birth, gender, or any other special category personal data
- We do not run third-party analytics SDKs (no Mixpanel, Amplitude, Google Analytics, etc.)
- We do not run third-party crash reporters (no Sentry, Bugsnag, etc.)
- We do not use advertising identifiers and do not track you across other apps or websites
3. Why we collect your data, and our lawful basis
Under UK GDPR, we must have a lawful reason to process your personal data. For each type of data:

4. Who we share your data with
We only share your data with carefully chosen third parties who help us run the App. We have a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with each one. They are:

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with advertisers. When you send an enquiry through the App, that enquiry stays internal to Property Edge Tradings Limited — the same company that publishes the App is the one that will respond with a quote.
5. International data transfers
Most of your data stays in the UK or EU. The only exception is Anthropic (used for interpreting your voice/text input), which is based in the United States.
When data is transferred outside the UK/EU, we rely on UK International Data Transfer Agreements (IDTA) or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as approved by the UK ICO. These provide GDPR-equivalent protection.
We never send personally identifiable information to Anthropic — only the text description of the work you'd like done (e.g. "paint a wall"). No name, postcode, email, or other identifiers are included.
6. How long we keep your data

When the retention period ends, your data is permanently deleted from active systems. Backups are overwritten within 30 days of deletion.
7. Your rights under UK GDPR
You have legal rights over your personal data. You can:
7.1 See what we hold about you (Right of access)
Go to Profile → Privacy & data → Download my data in the App. You'll receive a JSON file with all the personal data we hold on you.
7.2 Delete your account and data (Right to erasure)
Go to Profile → Privacy & data → Delete my account. We will delete everything within 30 days. Some records (enquiry history) are kept for the legally-required retention period — these will be deleted at the end of that period.
7.3 Correct your data (Right to rectification)
Go to Profile → My details to update name, email, or phone.
7.4 Export your data (Right to data portability)
Same as Right of access — the JSON file is in a machine-readable format.
7.5 Object to processing (Right to object)
Email developer@property-edge.co.uk. We will stop processing your data unless we have an overriding legitimate reason or legal obligation.
7.6 Make a complaint to the ICO
If you think we have mishandled your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office:

8. How we protect your data
- All data is encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL)
- Personal data is encrypted at rest in our database (Supabase / Postgres)
- Database access is restricted by Row-Level Security policies, so even our own service accounts can only read what each user explicitly owns
- Photos you upload are stored in a private bucket that only you and authorised Property Edge staff can access
- Access to user data is restricted to authorised personnel only and logged
- Payment data is never on our servers — Apple handles all card details
No system is perfectly secure. In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting your personal data, we will notify the ICO within 72 hours and notify affected users without undue delay if there's a high risk to your rights.
9. Children
The App is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with their data, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Cookies and web tracking
The App itself does not use cookies — it uses your phone's secure local storage instead.
This privacy policy page and the rest of our public website do not set tracking cookies, do not run analytics, and do not include third-party scripts.
11. Marketing emails
We do not send marketing emails unless you have explicitly opted in. Service emails (account verification, magic-link sign-in, enquiry confirmations) are operational and do not require consent.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes:
- We will notify you in the App and (where we have your email) by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect
- The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be updated
Continued use of the App after the changes take effect means you accept the new policy. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.
